At Green Construction we have been privileged to work in a variety of settings to provide our clients with home additions as well as remodeling projects with a goal in mind to provide accessibility within their homes. Some changes can be as simple as changing a door knob for a lever handle or installing a grab bar. Other projects may call for the entire house to be remodeled including ramps at entryways, widened doors, kitchens with accessible workspaces, sinks and cabinets and bathrooms with roll-in showers, accessible toilets and vanities.

Specifically we have worked in three arenas of accessible design:

Disabled Veterans

Through a variety of sources we have been provided the opportunity to work with numerous disabled veterans and their families. These brave men and women who have served our country well often have suffered debilitating injuries or illnesses that restrict their ability to live safely and comfortably in their homes.

Aging in Place

Studies have shown that over 90 percent of adults surveyed (over the age of 50) want to remain in their present homes as long as possible. At GCS, we enjoy sitting down with clients, discussing not only current needs but also to consider lifestyle & health changes that may impact design changes to their homes. We do our best to consider all options in order to provide the best possible solutions to the accessibility challenges our clients face.

Inclusive Design

Not always are changes needed in the home due to the change in health, the age or ability of the owner. Sometimes our children face situations that demand changes to enhance accessibility. Regardless of the need, we at Green Construction are driven by two guiding principles: Functionality & Aesthetics. Does the proposed change provide greater ease of movement or comfort and can this change be done in an aesthetically pleasing fashion? We are sensitive to work with our clients to provide sensible solutions to the challenges they present to give them solutions that work for the whole family.
